Butter: sautéing the mushrooms in butter makes them tender and juicy. Mushrooms: I like the button mushrooms but most mushrooms will work. You will want to clean and slice in half. Fresh thyme: a powerful seasoning that adds to the flavor. Parsley: brightens the dish and adds a balanced savory flavor. Rosemary: a sharp, piney aroma that blends well with other seasonings. Garlic: bring on the garlic! Sweet, sour and salty blend that adds to these mushrooms. Salt and pepper: added seasoning
How to make sautéed mushrooms
Within minutes you will have one easy meal. It is so easy to make! You can either use whole mushrooms or sliced mushrooms. The seasonings are fresh and adds an AMAZING flavor to these mushrooms.
Warm your skillet: In a medium sized skillet over medium high heat add the butter. Mix ingredients: Add the mushrooms, thyme, parsley, rosemary, garlic and salt and pepper to taste. Sautéing: Saute for 3-4 minutes or until they become tender. Serve: Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired.
How to wash mushrooms
It is important to wash your mushrooms properly. Because they grow low to the ground, they may have been covered with dirt when you purchase them from your local grocery store. Quickly wash mushrooms under warm water and using your fingers cleaning the tops of the mushrooms until they are a creamy white color. Mushrooms are porous, so you do not want to soak them too long in water. If you need to use a damp paper towel to rub the top and sides of the mushrooms to clean, that works well too. It is best to wait to wash your mushrooms until you are ready to sautéed them. They tend to turn slimy if done too soon.
How to cut your mushrooms
I cut about half of my mushrooms and left the other half whole. If you prefer them all whole or halved that will work great too. The texture balance is fun and adds more thickness as a side dish. Simply cut the mushrooms in half or slice them thick or thin depending on your preference.
What goes well with mushrooms
I love how versatile these mushrooms are. You can either have them as a side dish or on top of your favorite burger or steak. These are even great enjoyed by themselves. Whatever you do, make them! You will not regret it! This makes an excellent topping or a great side dish. Which do you prefer?!
Potatoes: Mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes or fries. Meat: Steak, chicken, pork and burgers or seafood. Vegetables: asparagus, leeks, lemon, shallots, onions, fennel, peas, tomatoes. Eggs: omelet, egg muffins, topped over eggs.
